Project: Validation of sanitation of Steamer
Procedure:
Four Amsco bacterial spore strips lot # ST 083A containing Bacillus
stereothermophilus "for determining the efficiency of steam sterilization"
were used to validate the sanitation of the steamer. One spore strip was
used as a control and was counted. The other three spore strips were sanitized with
the steamer for 10, 20, and 30 seconds. The sanitization was monitored using a
stopwatch by C. G. Laboratories. On October 13, 1995 all four strips were counted
using the method as described in U.S. Pharmacopeia National Formulary XXII. The
pour plate method was used to determine hw many organisms were on each strip. The
incubation period was for 72 hours at 35 degrees C.
